AFNIC brings the .fr Policy into line with its appointment's conditions

A new Naming Charter, that defines the .fr domain names registration rules, will be effective on March 16th, 2010.

Following its appointment of March 2nd, AFNIC publishes today on its website the new Naming Policy for .fr domain names, which will apply starting March 16th.

The new version of the document particularly introduces the availability of .fr domain to French expatriates.

The registration and verification process of individual already established will be maintained:

• There will be no new technical tests on entry of the data, in order to minimize the burden of checking domain name registrant’s geographical location;


• AFNIC will check eligibility with the registrars managing the domain name:
  
  • The administrative contact person must be established in France;
  • These eligibility checks will be conducted in case of complaints from outside, as well as in the course of random checking.
