The annual meeting of the Afnic Foundation for Digital Solidarity placed the focus on women and digital technology. Two round tables were devoted to the theme in order to highlight women’s experiences and projects. An excellent opportunity for former and recent Foundation winners to share and connect. In total, 401 applications were received in 2023 by the Foundation and 87 projects awarded a total of €1,382,690 combined.
The “RDV du Numérique Solidaire” event was held on 12 December with the central theme of projects developed by women. More than 80 people took part in the discussions and round tables on the topics of women in digital professions and projects designed by women to improve their daily lives and their health. Malaurie Silvagni and Lorène Carpentier presented Keep A Breast, a breast self-exam app, Adeline Morat and Bastien Germain presented Règles Élémentaires to combat period poverty and lift taboos, and Fabienne Bregy presented the Mémo de Vie (France Victimes SOS Victimes) platform for victims of violence.
At the second round table, Alexandra Rossi (Elloweb / Objectif Pour l’Emploi) and Serge Tisseron of the Conseil national du numérique digital national council took a closer look at improving women’s employability in the digital sphere and stereotypes, including in the development of algorithms for the artificial intelligence of tomorrow!
