Leila Garfield

Biographie

Leila Garfield is a French visual artist. She has developed an artistic practice combining photography, drawing, ceramics, textiles and publishing. After studying cinema at Paris-Sorbonne University then photography and graphic design at the Berlin University of the Arts, she travelled and amassed a vast collection of images and visual notes from around the world. Since 2009, she has kept a photo blog (www.leilagarfield.tumblr.com) in which she publishes images, texts and graphic experiments. Her work has been presented in exhibitions in France and abroad. She has also published numerous books and limited-edition photographic reproductions. She has developed her practice through various creative and research residencies that have allowed her to expand her research on image, materials and places while branching out into transmission and mediation for a variety of audiences.
