Afnic has announced the appointment of Benoît AMPEAU as new Director of Partnerships and Innovation and the recruitment of Hervé MARTIN, as Director of Human Resources, Quality of Work Life and Legal Affairs.

These two announcements follow on from the change in the organization of Afnic and its objective to step up its efforts in two major issues by creating two new departments – Partnerships and Innovation, and Human Resources, Quality of Work Life and Legal Affairs

Mr. Benoît AMPEAU, new Partnerships and Innovation Director

Benoit Ampeau renforce le CODIR Afnic

He was appointed in the spring of 2018 to head the Partnerships and Innovation Department. In his new duties, Benoît Ampeau will be in charge of the development of new services and solutions as well as the development of the ecosystem of partners on Afnic’s strategic priorities in innovation R&D and knowledge transfer.

For Benoit Ampeau : “The development and provision of digital services as well as the national and international transfer of knowledge and know-how are at the core of Afnic’s missions. The purpose of this new department is to support all of the employees already involved in these activities for a long time and allow them to cover new business lines and technological fields.”

After a period working in overseas development, he began his career in 1991 as Assistant to the Human Resources Manager in a large department of the French Railway Board (SNCF) with 700 employees, from 1991 to 1995.

For the next 20 years, he held various positions in Human Resources Management and in Unemployment Insurance from 1996 to 2005, and in the ANAIS Association, a large association with 1900 employees in the medico-social sector, for the disabled and the elderly from 2005 to 2017, thus experiencing changing environments (mergers of institutions) and development.

Hervé Martin describes: “Afnic has a long-standing commitment to developing the quality of its employees’ working lives and the creation of this new function is intended to reinforce, formalize and perpetuate its commitment to “human resources”, as the main source of input for its technical expertise and consultancy services and its capacity for innovation”.

About Afnic

Afnic is the acronym for Association Française pour le Nommage Internet en Coopération, the French Network Information Centre. The registry has been appointed by the French government to manage domain names under the .fr Top Level Domain. Afnic also manages the .re (Reunion Island), .pm (Saint-Pierre and Miquelon), .tf (French Southern and Antarctic Territories), .wf (Wallis and Futuna) and .yt (Mayotte) French Overseas TLDs.

In addition to managing French TLDs, Afnic’s role is part of a wider public interest mission, which is to contribute on a daily basis, thanks to the efforts of its teams and its members, to a secure and stable internet, open to innovation and in which the French internet community plays a leading role. As part of that mission, Afnic, a non-profit organization, has committed to devoting 11% of its Revenues from managing .fr Top Level Domain to actions of general interest, in particular by transferring €1.3 million each year to the Afnic Foundation for Digital Solidarity.
Afnic is also the back-end registry for the companies as well as local and regional authorities that have chosen to have their own TLD, such as .paris, .bzh, .alsace, .corsica, .mma, .ovh, .leclerc and .sncf.

Established in 1997 and based in Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines, Afnic currently has nearly 90 employees.
