The ICANN82 Community Forum will kick off on Saturday 8 March 2025 in Seattle, USA. An unmissable 6-day event for the entire domain name ecosystem that will bring together the main Internet players worldwide to discuss DNS evolutions and the challenges connected with its governance. The key subjects on the agenda for this edition include the next ICANN round of gTLD applications set to open in 2026.
Afnic out in force
Afnic participates in each ICANN Community Forum to advocate a committed and expert vision of Internet governance and the development of the domain name system. For this 82nd edition, however, it will be sending a delegation of five experts, including its CEO Pierre Bonis.
Their goal: as always, to enrich the discussions, share their know-how and support the evolutions of the domain name system; but also to present the new Afnic Registry Services offering at a dedicated Afnic stand at the event.
Afnic Registry Services: an offering tailored to future gTLD applicants
Within the framework of the upcoming round of gTLD applications, Afnic Registry Services is designed to assist brands and regional and local authorities with the launch and management of their own gTLD.
Drawing on its experience in managing the .fr and other TLDs, and thanks to its network of specialist partners, Afnic Registry Services offers brands, regional and local authorities and protected designation of origin groups assistance with each stage of their project. From preparing the application to obtaining their gTLD, Afnic will ensure that all the criteria are met and will guarantee reliable back-end management, in accordance with ICANN rules and with European regulatory frameworks, and secure operations.
Afnic’s aim with this offering is to facilitate access to new gTLDs and to meet the needs of future applicants in a context in which customisation and digital sovereignty are becoming increasingly prevalent.

About Afnic
Afnic is the acronym for Association Française pour le Nommage Internet en Coopération, the French Network Information Centre. The registry has been appointed by the French government to manage domain names under the .fr Top Level Domain. Afnic also manages the .re (Reunion Island), .pm (Saint-Pierre and Miquelon), .tf (French Southern and Antarctic Territories), .wf (Wallis and Futuna) and .yt (Mayotte) French Overseas TLDs.

As part of that mission, Afnic, a non-profit organization, has committed to devoting 11% of its Revenues from managing .fr Top Level Domain to actions of general interest, in particular by transferring €1.3 million each year to the Afnic Foundation for Digital Solidarity.
Afnic is also the back-end registry for the companies as well as local and regional authorities that have chosen to have their own TLD, such as .paris, .bzh, .alsace, .corsica, .mma, .ovh, .leclerc and .sncf.
Established in 1997 and based in Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines, Afnic currently has nearly 90 employees.
