The AFNIC Legal Affairs Department will answer questions from Internet users on the new legal framework for domain names on May 5, 2011, between 2pm and 4pm. You can already ask your questions on Facebook.

A second session based on the same principle will take place on June 1, 2011 between 9:30 am and 11:30 am on afnic.forumpro.fr.

Reminder

The Law of 22 March 2011 has changed some aspects of the legal framework for domain names in France. The key changes will come into effect on 1 July 2011. The changes will mostly concern:

Disputes between rights holders and holders of .fr domain names

Prohibited and reserved terms

Access to the list of registered .fr domain names.

About Afnic

Afnic is the acronym for Association Française pour le Nommage Internet en Coopération, the French Network Information Centre. The registry has been appointed by the French government to manage domain names under the .fr Top Level Domain. Afnic also manages the .re (Reunion Island), .pm (Saint-Pierre and Miquelon), .tf (French Southern and Antarctic Territories), .wf (Wallis and Futuna) and .yt (Mayotte) French Overseas TLDs.

Afnic is also the back-end registry for the companies as well as local and regional authorities that have chosen to have their own TLD, such as .paris, .bzh, .alsace, .corsica, .mma, .ovh, .leclerc and .sncf.

Established in 1997 and based in Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines, Afnic currently has nearly 90 employees.
