He previously held the posts of Director of ICT 1 in education at the University of Antananarivo (2013-2019) and chairman of the Madagascar Chapter of ISOC (2018-2022). Thanks to Souleymane Oumtanaga

All the members of the Afnic Board of Trustees and its teams wish to express their warm thanks to Mr Souleymane Oumtanaga, professor and researcher at the INPHB (Institut National Polytechnique Houphouët Boigny) and creator of the .ci (Côte d’Ivoire) domain, for his dedication during two successive terms of office on Afnic’s Board of Trustees and for his pivotal role in leading the International College.

About the International College

The International College is composed of international correspondent members, national or international associations or organisations not established in France and engaged with the Association in a process of co-development on the subject of domain names.

Since its establishment, Afnic’s International College has striven to be a reference, and a place for dialogue and sharing. It is based on principles of co-development and solidarity in managing the Internet, within a framework designed to trial and/or validate concrete solutions. Its 22 current members, most of whom are ccTLD registry operators, come from 16 countries located mainly in Africa. Like the consultative committees, the International College can be invited to debate strategic questions and issue proposals that will be discussed by Afnic’s Board of Trustees.

About Afnic

Afnic is the acronym for Association Française pour le Nommage Internet en Coopération, the French Network Information Centre. The registry has been appointed by the French government to manage domain names under the .fr Top Level Domain. Afnic also manages the .re (Reunion Island), .pm (Saint-Pierre and Miquelon), .tf (French Southern and Antarctic Territories), .wf (Wallis and Futuna) and .yt (Mayotte) French Overseas TLDs.

In addition to managing French TLDs, Afnic’s role is part of a wider public interest mission, which is to contribute on a daily basis, thanks to the efforts of its teams and its members, to a secure and stable internet, open to innovation and in which the French internet community plays a leading role. As part of that mission, Afnic, a non-profit organization, has committed to devoting 11% of its Revenues from managing .fr Top Level Domain to actions of general interest, in particular by transferring €1.3 million each year to the Afnic Foundation for Digital Solidarity.
Afnic is also the back-end registry for the companies as well as local and regional authorities that have chosen to have their own TLD, such as .paris, .bzh, .alsace, .corsica, .mma, .ovh, .leclerc and .sncf.

Established in 1997 and based in Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines, Afnic currently has nearly 90 employees.
