This month’s issue of the Report focuses on the age of domain names under the .fr TLD. Highlights in the latest issue include the following:

  • The existence of an age pyramid within the .fr TLD, in which the proportion of "old" names decreases as their age increases.1.8% of domain names in the portfolio as of March 2014 were registered between 1995 and 2000, against 6.4% between 2001 and 2005, 34.7% between 2006 and 2010, and 57% between 2011 and 2014;
  • The renewal rate of a domain name correlates with the age of the name. For example:

- Domain names registered less than two years ago are less likely to be renewed than those registered 2-5 years ago;

- The renewal rate is close to 100 % for domain names registered more than 5 years ago.
