05/27/2021

Afnic is joining forces with Shopify, an e-commerce company whose services allow users to start, manage and develop their online business, to accelerate and support all French retailers wanting to get started online.

Through its Réussir en .fr programme, Afnic contributes to the development of the online presence of French VSEs/SMES, retailers and tradespersons thanks to various free tools. This partnership with Shopify is part of the initiative “Je passe au numérique” (“I’m going digital”), launched last November by Afnic, which brings together calibrated offerings for an effective and controlled online presence that is accessible in terms of costs.

This new offer is available on an online page to enable retailers to find the ideal Internet address available under the .fr domain using a domain name generator and then sign up classically on Shopify. The free Shopify trial period is extended to 30 days (instead of 14) as part of the launch.

Shopify moteur

Shopify created the Shopify GO programme for its partners in France and worldwide to develop training and support modules for businesses to accelerate their digital transition and help them adapt to new market trends. Now more than ever, retailers need effective tools to reinvent commerce and offer a seamless customer experience.

About Afnic

Afnic is the acronym for Association Française pour le Nommage Internet en Coopération, the French Network Information Centre. The registry has been appointed by the French government to manage domain names under the .fr Top Level Domain. Afnic also manages the .re (Reunion Island), .pm (Saint-Pierre and Miquelon), .tf (French Southern and Antarctic Territories), .wf (Wallis and Futuna) and .yt (Mayotte) French Overseas TLDs.

In addition to managing French TLDs, Afnic’s role is part of a wider public interest mission, which is to contribute on a daily basis, thanks to the efforts of its teams and its members, to a secure and stable internet, open to innovation and in which the French internet community plays a leading role. As part of that mission, Afnic, a non-profit organization, donates 90% of its profits to its Foundation for Digital Solidarity. Afnic is also the back-end registry for the companies as well as local and regional authorities that have chosen to have their own TLD, such as .paris, .bzh, .alsace, .corsica, .mma, .ovh, .leclerc and .sncf.

Established in 1997 and based in Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines, Afnic currently has 80 employees.
