04/07/2021

Afnic obtained the Qualiopi® French national quality certification on 27 January, enabling it to run training courses eligible for public funding and to expand its course range.

Afnic has been providing training on its core business areas since 2011, including: DNS, DNSSEC, IPv6 and EPP. Furthermore, as part of its consulting services, many of its experts regularly assist clients with the legal, marketing and strategic aspects of registry operations.

After introducing its consulting services in 2019, Afnic chose to undertake an official process to formalise and develop its training activity in March 2020. Its registration as a training organisation was subsequently approved by the DIRECCTE (Regional Department of Enterprise, Competition, Consumer Affairs, Labour and Employment) in July 2020. However, given that this certification alone does not enable Skills Operators (OPCO – Opérateur de Compétences) to run training courses, Afnic set out to obtain Qualiopi® certification in collaboration with Certifopac.

The Qualiopi certification is valid for 3 years, with strict checks every 18 months.

Afnic currently provides 3 training courses and will soon be expanding its portfolio:

About Afnic

Afnic is the acronym for Association Française pour le Nommage Internet en Coopération, the French Network Information Centre. The registry has been appointed by the French government to manage domain names under the .fr Top Level Domain. Afnic also manages the .re (Reunion Island), .pm (Saint-Pierre and Miquelon), .tf (French Southern and Antarctic Territories), .wf (Wallis and Futuna) and .yt (Mayotte) French Overseas TLDs.

In addition to managing French TLDs, Afnic’s role is part of a wider public interest mission, which is to contribute on a daily basis, thanks to the efforts of its teams and its members, to a secure and stable internet, open to innovation and in which the French internet community plays a leading role. As part of that mission, Afnic, a non-profit organization, donates 90% of its profits to its Foundation for Digital Solidarity. Afnic is also the back-end registry for the companies as well as local and regional authorities that have chosen to have their own TLD, such as .paris, .bzh, .alsace, .corsica, .mma, .ovh, .leclerc and .sncf.

Established in 1997 and based in Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines, Afnic currently has 80 employees.
