Biographie

Lucien Castex joined Afnic in June 2020. As Advisor to the CEO, Internet, Governance and Society, his main duties are to represent Afnic in France and abroad, particularly in the area of public policies related to development of the Internet and digital technologies, and to develop and structure partnership activities. Lastly, within the framework of the range of training courses offered by Afnic, Lucien conducts sessions on the specificities and issues at stake in Internet governance A specialist in digital law and policies, Lucien is also an associate researcher at the Sorbonne-Nouvelle University, teaching communication law. He was appointed to the French Consultative Commission on Human Rights (CNCDH) in April 2019. Lucien is also co-chairman of the organising committee of the French forum on Internet governance and a member of the IGF’s Multistakeholder Advisory Group on an international level. Before joining Afnic, Lucien held the position of Secretary-General of the Internet Society (ISOC) France. He also worked with UNESCO, the National Audiovisual Institute and the Technologies, Territories and Societies Laboratory (École des Ponts ParisTech, Gustave-Eiffel University, French National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS)). Having studied law (École de Formation du Barreau law school, Paris II, Paris V and Paris X Universities), Lucien is a graduate of the École Normale Supérieure graduate school (Department of Cognitive Studies) and of Paris IV University in Philosophy and Sociology.
