Afnic, the association responsible for .fr, has announced that its “Engagé RSE” and “Responsibility Europe” CSR labels have been renewed by AFNOR Certification.
Having obtained “Confirmed” level in 2023, Afnic has achieved “Exemplary” level in 2026, the highest level of the “Engagé RSE” reference framework.
This certification recognises the robustness of Afnic’s statutory model, the involvement of its governance, and the incorporation of priority CSR aspects within its strategy.

The first logo presented is that of the CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) certification “Engagé RSE” label at “Exemplary” level , issued by AFNOR Certification. It consists of the following elements:
- Background: The logo is primarily purple, with a rounded shape at the top and a horizontal white band at the bottom.
- Text at the top: The word “ENGAGÉ” is written in white capital letters, in a sans-serif font, above the word “RSE”.
- Central text: The acronym “RSE” is displayed in large yellow capital letters, in a sans-serif font, and occupies a central and dominant position.
- Below the RSE acronym: The text “ISO 26000” is written in white letters, in a sans-serif font, indicating the international reference standard for CSR.
- White band at the bottom: On this band, the word “Exemplaire” is written in black letters, followed by three yellow stars, symbolizing a high level of performance.
- Text at the bottom: Finally, the mention “AFNOR CERTIFICATION” is inscribed in white capital letters, in a sans-serif font, on the purple background, indicating the certifying body.
This logo signifies that the certified entity is engaged in CSR according to the ISO 26000 standard and has achieved an “Exemplaire” level of certification, recognized by AFNOR Certification.
The second logo presented is that of the CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) label from Responsibility Europe. It consists of the following elements:
- General shape: The logo is circular, with a white background and a dark blue arc-shaped border.
- Text at the top: The text “RESPONSIBILITY EUROPE” is written in dark blue capital letters, in a sans-serif font, following the upper curve of the arc.
- Text at the bottom: The text “CSR LABEL” is written in dark blue capital letters, in a sans-serif font, following the lower curve of the arc.
- Center of the logo: The letters “RE” are displayed in large dark blue capital letters, in a sans-serif font, occupying the center of the logo. The letter “R” contains a yellow five-pointed star, symbolizing Europe.
- Colors: The logo primarily uses dark blue for the text and border, white for the background, and yellow for the star.
This logo signifies that the certified entity is recognized by Responsibility Europe for its commitment to corporate social responsibility (CSR).
This substantial progress in just three years is testimony to the solidity of Afnic’s CSR approach and the groundwork done.
The Afnic’s CSR strenghts
The strengths noted include:
- The involvement of governance and the robustness of the model at the service of the public-interest mission, particularly the dialogue with stakeholders and fair practices, including the fight against abuse and dispute handling.
- R&D investment and the work undertaken by Afnic, on the carbon impact of .fr and ecodesign (RGESN framework) in particular.
- Funding for the Afnic Foundation for Digital Solidarity, combating digital exclusion.
This recognition gives fresh impetus going forward. Afnic will continue to honour its commitments with the aim of improving practices and setting new goals.
“Engagé RSE” label
“Engagé RSE” is a particularly demanding label, the framework for which was strengthened in 2026 to incorporate recent developments in the fields of climate change, biodiversity, responsible digital technology, responsible purchasing and sustainability reporting. Based on the ISO 26000 standard and in line with the UN’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals, it assesses companies’ social responsibility according to 55 criteria through an in-depth on-site audit and interviews with management and employee representatives and external stakeholders.

The registry has been appointed by the French government to manage domain names under the .fr Top Level Domain.
