The Afnic Board of Trustees welcomed two new elected trustees on 10 June 2022 and renewed the term of office of its Chair for a second three-year period.
Following the Afnic Ordinary General Meeting of 10 June 2022 which renewed three elected positions on the Board of Trustees, the new Board of Trustees re-elected Godefroy Beauvallet at the head of the Association.
Godefroy Beauvallet welcomed the arrival of new trustees Sébastien Almiron for Netim and Paul Perpère for the INPI as well as the re-election of Souleymane Oumtanaga (Institut National Polytechnique Houphouët Boigny, Côte d’Ivoire). He also wished to express his warmest thanks to the trustees whose term of office ended, Benjamin Louis and Arnaud Wittersheim of Nameshield, for their extensive involvement within the Association and for their dedication in working for Afnic and the Internet community.
“It is my pleasure and honour to continue this adventure with Afnic in the service of the French Internet community and with the aim of strengthening the position of the .fr TLD as a secure and sovereign domain that is not only stable and innovative but exemplary in its digital sobriety.”
“The last three years of Godefroy Beauvallet’s chairmanship of our association have been action-packed and crowned with a great many achievements for Afnic. I am delighted that we are able to continue to implement our roadmap as the .fr registry and to invigorate the life of our association together alongside the Board of Trustees and the Afnic teams.”
“The Afnic teams, its Board of Trustees, its members and all its partners form a terrific ecosystem buzzing with activities and collective intelligence, which upholds the founding principles of the Internet: openness, neutrality and responsibility.”

Afnic is the acronym for Association Française pour le Nommage Internet en Coopération, the French Network Information Centre. The registry has been appointed by the French government to manage domain names under the .fr Top Level Domain. Afnic also manages the .re (Reunion Island), .pm (Saint-Pierre and Miquelon), .tf (French Southern and Antarctic Territories), .wf (Wallis and Futuna) and .yt (Mayotte) French Overseas TLDs.
In addition to managing French TLDs, Afnic’s role is part of a wider public interest mission, which is to contribute on a daily basis, thanks to the efforts of its teams and its members, to a secure and stable internet, open to innovation and in which the French internet community plays a leading role. As part of that mission, Afnic, a non-profit organization, has committed to devoting 11% of its Revenues from managing .fr Top Level Domain to actions of general interest, in particular by transferring €1.3 million each year to the Afnic Foundation for Digital Solidarity.
Afnic is also the back-end registry for the companies as well as local and regional authorities that have chosen to have their own TLD, such as .paris, .bzh, .alsace, .corsica, .mma, .ovh, .leclerc and .sncf.
Established in 1997 and based in Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines, Afnic currently has nearly 90 employees.
